Dune Cabin Precinct at Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park

Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park is situated at the start of the Great Ocean Road and offers a variety of cabins, camping, and glamping options alongside Torquay Back Beach and Spring Creek.

We’re reimagining the southern section of the park to make it even more enjoyable and accessible for everyone.

We have plans to deliver three new cabins catering to families and larger groups, and two all-abilities cabins to increase access to the coast for people living with a disability and their support networks. The cabins will be linked up with a boardwalk and communal outdoor space.

The precinct design will implement universal design principles throughout to improve access to the adjoining Torquay foreshore area.

We have landscape plans for the new Dune Cabin Precinct that illustrate how the cabins will be integrated into the existing environment. As we move forward, we will soon begin the detailed design process to refine both the cabins and the broader precinct.

The proposed location of the new cabins will be near the existing glamping pods and dunes area from sites 26 – 40.

The Dunes Cabin Precinct will include two all-abilities cabins to make it more accessible for people living with a disability and their support networks to stay and enjoy the Surf Coast.

The two cabins will be Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliant and will implement universal design principles to improve the quality of experience when coming to stay in the cabins.

The boardwalk connecting the cabins will provide access to a communal outdoor area and to the back access gate of the Caravan Park.

A construction contract is due to be awarded before the middle of the year.

The new cabins and boardwalk are anticipated to be constructed and open for bookings later in 2025.

All revenue raised on the land we manage is reinvested back into the Great Ocean Road coast and parks, to ensure this special part of the state can be enjoyed now and for generations to come.

Have Your Say

Over a three-week period in February 2025, we engaged with users of the Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park, people with lived experience of disability and the broader community. In this engagement we unveiled landscape plans for a new Dune Cabin Precinct that illustrated how the cabins could be integrated into the existing environment of the park, shared information on the new precinct and gathered feedback on the plans.
