Project overview

The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (the Authority) is upgrading the design for the Point Grey swimming ramp next to the Lorne Aquatic and Angling Club.

The current ramp, used for swimming events such as the Pier to Pub, is 40-50 years old and has reached the end of its life. As such we’re delivering interim maintenance works in late 2023 to ensure the ramp is safe for the busy summer period.

We've made the existing ramp safe for use in summer, and asked the community to have their say on what they’d like to see in the new ramp design. All feedback captured and included in the engagement report will now be referred to the Point Grey Precinct masterplanning process.

We had a great community response to the Have Your Say for what you would like to see in a new ramp design. Read the What We Heard report by clicking the button below.

The ramp has been closed for a few months now as it was deemed unsafe. To make it safe for summer use, as an interim measure, we are repairing the concrete section.

The concrete section will be cleaned up and infilled, then a top layer of concrete will be poured over to create a level finish.

When repair works are underway, the area will be cordoned off and signage will be in place.

The Point Grey swimming ramp upgrades will be delivered prior to the Point Grey Redevelopment works that are also being delivered by the Authority. As both projects are being delivered by the Authority, these projects will be closely coordinated.
