Roll with the Tides: Apollo Bay Accessibility Event
We are partnering with local agencies to run a Come and Try afternoon in Apollo Bay this summer
Come along to chat all things:
- Accessible beaches on our coast
- Beach mobility equipment (including beach wheelchairs, beach walkers and portable hoists)
- Beach matting
- How to book beach mobility equipment this summer season
Discover and try out a beach wheelchair or walker at the event
Beach matting will be rolled out near the Apollo Bay Surf Life Saving Club and there will be beach mobility equipment to try out and see at the event, including Mobi-Chairs, a beach walker and a Birdie EVO Compact Hoist (see images below).
Important things to note:
- Our staff are unable to assist with transfers to beach wheelchairs or hoists. If you need this support, please arrange for a carer or support person to accompany you on the day.
- If you wish to try out the hoist on the day, you are required to bring along your own sling.

What to expect on the day
The event will be held on the grassed area next to the beach matting in Apollo Bay (near the Surf Life Saving Club).
Facilities
- Accessible parking available adjacent to the Surf Life Saving Club (Refer to map below).
- Accessible toilet available next to the Apollo Bay Visitor Centre (Refer to map below).
- There is no Changing Places facility at the location, however a walled marquee with a hoist will be onsite for use if you require a private space.
Some seating will be provided on the day, however, please feel free to bring your own (picnic rugs and camping chairs welcome!)
